“A deeply moving and essential read for MKs, TCKs, and the parents and caregivers who support them. This book is a lifeline for those seeking understanding and connection in their journey. An absolute must-read!”

With this series on TCKs & Neurodiversity coming to a close, I thought it might be helpful to have all three segments available in one place, with easy links to the written (where applicable), audio (podcast), and video options.

I’ve been so moved by the response of readers and listeners to this exploration of a people group often overlooked in missionary circles. What an honor to have engaged with so many fascinating neurodivergent individuals and specialists while crafting this series.

As I’ve mentioned before, this is not a comprehensive analysis of neurodiversity in cross-cultural spaces. It merely scratches the surface of all there is to be learned! My hope and prayer is that it will begin a broader conversation and prompt more personal research.

We must know more to love better.

PART ONE: An Interview with Jenilee Goodwin

Jenilee Goodwin is mom to three neurodivergent young-adult children. She is a former missionary and a Life Coach, with a clear voice of knowledge and compassion regarding this too-often misunderstood segment of the TCK population. In this wide ranging interview, we consider what she has learned—often through trial and error—that could be beneficial to other cross-cultural families, and she offers practical suggestions for interacting with our neurodivergent friends and family in a way that is affirming and supportive.

PART TWO: Treasures Among Us

With copious quotes from experts in the field and from eleven adult TCKs, this article dives deep into what neurodiversity looks like (you might be surprised!), how it shows up uniquely in global nomads, how cross-cultural traits can mask it, what kind of support could help neurodivergent children, and the misunderstandings that can lead to family or community chasms.

PART THREE: TCKs Tell Their Stories

In this 52-minute video and podcast episode, the eleven previously-interviewed adult TCKs offer more insight into their gifting, their challenges, and their courage as they answer a series of questions about their lives—early signs of neurodiversity, blessings, frustrations, what led to their diagnosis, and how it changed them. They share their hard-won wisdom, extending compassion to other neurodivergent TCKs and suggestions for those of us who are in relatonship with them.
